Director Josh Trank (Chronicle) had what was an undoubtedly bad year in 2015 when his Fantastic Four saw theatrical release to significant backlash from the critical establishment, leading to the defense of the film from Trank, who claims that his original cut of the film was better than the final theatrical release distributed by 20th Century Fox. The San Bernardino iPhone hack story rumbles on, with three news organizations insisting that there is no good reason for the FBI to withhold the cost of accessing the phone. Associated Press, Vice Media and USA Today have asked a US judge to force the FBI to reveal the information, reports the BBC … The FBI had been criticized for spending what was reputed to be around a million dollars to access the work phone of one of the shooters....

Popular movie ticket service Fandango has today updated its iOS with a highly requested feature. Bumping the app to version 7.1, Fandango for iOS has added support for Apple’s mobile payment solution, Apple Pay. Fandango’s Apple Pay integration works just the same as it does with other third-party. When you go to purchase a ticket, you can now choose Apple Pay as a checkout option, significantly expediting the process. Fandango’s addition of Apple Pay comes just a week after the iOS App Store added a new Shopping category to showcase apps like Fandango....

It has been widely speculated that the method used by the FBI to access the San Bernardino iPhone might not work with phones that have the Secure Enclave, and this has now been effectively confirmed. FBI director James Comey told CNN that the method doesn’t work with the latest iPhones. This fact also lends support to the main theory about how the hack was performed … The FBI director also said the purchased tool worked only on a “narrow slice of phones” that does not include the newest Apple models, or the 5S....

My experience with HomePod has so far been a very positive one, with its responsiveness to Siri requests something that’s really impressed me. A key HomePod feature is its use of noise-cancelling microphones so that it can hear Hey Siri requests no matter how loudly the music is playing, but I’ve also been really amazed by the sheer distance at which Siri can hear me – often from one end of our apartment to the other....
