The Fast & Furious 9 (aka F9) trailer is now out in the world, and the reveal of Han Lue’s return perfectly sets up the next movie in the franchise to be Fast vs. Furious. Ten films and almost twice as many years since the first installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, the series that was once about electronic component thieves with exotic cars has morphed into a globe-trotting, world-saving collection of stunt extravaganzas....
FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has once again publicly called out Apple over not enabling FM radio chips in iPhones during recent natural disasters. Pai’s pointed statement follows the NAB renewing its own push for Apple to enable FM radio access on iPhones. Pai says other companies have enabled life-saving FM radio access in smartphones during hurricanes and other natural disasters when cellular service is lost: While the FCC isn’t forcing Apple to do anything, the language in the chairman’s request doesn’t hold back....
A fan of AMC’s Breaking Bad has filed a lawsuit over how Apple handled the show’s final season in the iTunes Store. Because the network decided to break the fifth and final season into two parts, both of which are referred to as “season 5” by the network, Apple broke the iTunes copy of the season into two parts as well. The only problem is that iTunes Season Pass holders who expected to receive the final sixteen episodes altogether learned last month that they would only receive the first half....
Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie may have run into another hurdle because of one of the actor’s other franchises: Fantastic Beasts. Since Miller landed the role of Barry Allen aka Flash in 2014, his career has essentially been tied with Warner Bros. His involvement with the studio expanded outside the DC realm by also joining the world of Harry Potter through the Fantastic Beasts franchise. Starting with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Miller has starred in the prequel series as Credence, a mysterious man whose role expanded in the sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald....

Smartphones are critical tools for authenticating to online services, such as banks that use SMS for sign-in codes. It is a serious problem – if crooks can gain control of these services, they can access the victim’s bank, email, social media, and bank accounts....
I once teased an American friend about the fact that only 36% of Americans hold a passport, compared to 83% of Brits. He quite rightly pointed out that in America you can fly for six hours and still be in the same country – Seattle to Miami, for example – while Brits can fly for an hour or so and be in any one of a dozen different countries. The Fast & Furious franchise has some great cars and plenty of experienced drivers too. Even though not all the main characters have participated in a race, most of them have unique driving skills that would make them overcome any challenger easily. Dominic Toretto even won a race by driving in reverse. And to make it even better, the engine of his car was on fire. With feats like this, it’s hard to think of any movie cars that would prove to be a challenge for Dom and family....
Universal has recruited screenwriter Daniel Casey to work on Fast & Furious 9. Chris Morgan took over writing duties on the Fast & Furious movies in the mid-2000s, starting with 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (the third film in the series after Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious). Since Morgan is busy writing the Fast & Furious spinoff movie featuring Dwayne Johnson’s Agent Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw, he will hand off the task of writing the ninth mainline Fast & Furious installment to Casey instead....
The FBI has so far been ambivalent about whether or not it will reveal to Apple the method used to access the San Bernardino iPhone, but a Reuters report suggests that the agency may not even know – or have the legal right to disclose it if it does. The Washington Post reported yesterday that it was freelance hackers, and not Cellebrite, who sold the FBI the tool used to access the phone....
The February 2022 cumulative update for Windows 10 is available for the general public. The recent Windows update includes improvements for both security and non-security features. This patch is going to be especially useful for those who have skipped the latest optional updates. Still, the release is relatively light compared to that of January. The February update does not carry urgent patches, so admins can take their time to solve the Windows 10 patch problems....
When we first looked at Fanbytes by Brainlabs in early 2018, the platform was very much a Snap-focused solution. Timothy Armoo, founder and CEO of Fanbytes by Brainlabs—and a Gen Z baby himself—appeared to have a better handle on the channel’s value proposition than Snap itself did. Streaks and puppy ear filters are nice features, but as Armoo wrote in a post on campaignlive.co.uk, the app isn’t merely another social media channel—“It’s glaringly obvious that Snap are the new TV,” he says....

I began the editing on my Macs – the Pro when I was at home, the Air when I was elsewhere. At that point, I still wanted to be in Scrivener in case structural edits were needed: scenes that needed to happen earlier or later in the story....
After a new trailer hinted at the imminent arrival of the Fantastic Four in the MCU, fans have been pretty stoked about what could unfold. It’s probably safe to assume that the new movie will steer clear of previous FF movie efforts. It may also be a good bet that the movie will draw on some of the classic comic book storylines from Marvel Comics’ first superhero team. Fans might expect the movie to cover the origin of the team, but thanks to sixty years of comic book history, there are a couple of different versions out there....
AMC has released the first trailer for season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead, and it shows just how difficult it can be to help others in the apocalypse. The series has undergone some dramatic restructuring since it first premiered in 2015, with the majority of the original cast now having been whittled down to just two, Alycia Debnam-Carey’s Alicia Clark and Colman Domingo’s Victor Strand, with the rest having been killed off in surprising (and somewhat controversial) fashion over the last few seasons....

Production on the third season of FX’s Fargo is due to begin later this year, starring Ewan McGregor as twins Emmit and Ray Stussy. It’ll be yet another welcome return for the acclaimed TV show, loosely based on the Coen brothers’ 1996 film. Helmed by Noah Hawley, Fargo’s first season was set in 2006 and starred Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton. A critical and commercial success, the show was renewed for a second season, which aired in the latter half of 2015....
Earlier this year, an image of Mark Zuckerberg’s desk emerged showing that he uses a piece of tape to cover the webcam on his MacBook Pro. While many mocked this security method by Zuckerberg at the time, the Facebook CEO now has some additional back up from someone who’s pretty security conscious: FBI director James Comey. Speaking during a conference at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Comey explained that putting a cover over webcams is one of the “sensible things” that everyone should be doing....
[Update #2: Apple has issued a statement in which it says that it is committed to continuing to fight for cilvil liberties and collective security and privacy. The company doesn’t, however, comment on the possibility that the FBI was able to get into the iPhone anyways. We know a fair amount about what to expect from WWDC next week — software heavy with Siri as a star and light on hardware — yet there is still plenty of room for surprises like HomeKit and Apple News from previous years. Expectations are especially light on watchOS and tvOS, the software that runs on Apple Watch and Apple TV, and there are plenty of new features that could improve the iPhone, iPad, and Mac....
