This is an exciting prospect, but every previous attempt to translate the Fantastic Four onto the big screen has been an astounding failure. That doesn’t mean that there can’t be a good Fantastic Four movie – it just means that, for one to work, the filmmakers will need to avoid past mistakes....

It’s about time that Facebook implemented this feature directly into Messenger, which more and more users are turning to for daily communications instead of text or email. We reported yesterday that there’s a new FBI iPhone case — the bureau again asking Apple to unlock two iPhones belonging to a suspected shooter. There are obvious similarities between the San Bernardino and Pensacola cases. Not just that both relate to shootings and involve two iPhones, but also the fact that the FBI has decided to go public with its request for Apple to help… The intention was likely to apply public pressure on Apple to cooperate, but it seems to me more likely to achieve the opposite effect: Draw attention to the iPhone maker’s strong stance on privacy....

Felicity Huffman is expected to plead guilty over the college admissions bribery case that broke last month. The Desperate Housewives actress was among the dozens charged by the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the scandal that involved the parents either faking athletic records or cheating their SAT scores to get their children to high profile universities such as Yale, Georgetown and the University of Southern California. According to the charges, Huffman allegedly paid $15,000 to a fixer, William Singer of Key Worldwide Foundation, who arranged a fake person take the SAT in lieu of her daughter, resulting to getting better scores from her Preliminary SAT....

Josh Trank says that the first five minutes of The Irishman is better than all Marvel films combined. This effectively resurrects the argument stemming from Martin Scorsese’s controversial comments dubbing the MCU “not cinema” which has been dead for a couple of weeks now. Trank directed 2012’s Chronicle, but is more known as the helmer for the 2015 critically-panned films Fantastic Four - Fox’s second attempt to introduce Marvel’s first family into the big screen....

AMC has announced that season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead will hit TV screens on Sunday, June 4 with back-to-back episodes. The season’s first half will consist of eight episodes, with the first half finale taking place over back-to-back episodes airing on July 9. That’s eight episodes worth of zombie mayhem packed into just six weeks. And it’s only a couple months away. The Walking Dead wrapped up season 7 with a brutal showdown between Negan and Rick in Alexandria, setting up even more warfare to come in season 8....

All Macs have a clear and unmistakable ‘camera in use’ indicator in the form of a green LED next to the camera. Indeed, on Macs released from 2008 onward, there is a hardware interlock between the camera and LED which makes it physically impossible for an app to switch on the camera without the light also coming on to alert you. In May, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) published a report about “anti-competitive repair restrictions” in the US, including multiple concerns about Apple’s business practices around iPhone. Now the Biden administration is expected to ask the FTC to write up new rules that could expand the ability for individuals and independent shops to perform smartphone repairs and more. Reported by Bloomberg, sources close to the matter have shared that President Biden will be asking the FTC to write a draft for new Right to Repair rules....
